Wayne Purcell was born in Oldham in 1970. After completing his formal education he moved to Belfast in 1992,  eventually studying at the University of Ulster. He co-founded Pelican Arts, a small but successful commercial outfit  specialising in event based art and design. After this stint of  being a commercial artist, Purcell moved back to England in 2002 in order to complete his studies at Leeds University, where he obtained a degree in Fine Art.

University behind him, Purcell became a member of East Street Arts and secured a workspace at Beaver Studios, were he is currently based, in order to establish himself as a fine artist. 

Wayne now works as a figurative painter and is currently building up work for exhibitions. He is also available for commissions.
